Eva E. Conroy, 104, of The Hearth at Greenpoint passed away on Friday. She was a native and life resident of Syracuse. Eva was one of Syracuse’s first school crossing guards. She had retired after 29 years of service. Eva was the Former President of Webster School Mother’s Club, Grant School Parents Group, North High Mother’s Club and Secretary of Council of Mother’s Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Conroy in 2002, her daughter, Carol and her husband, Ray Austin, her son-in-law James V. Hollister in 2008, her two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Hollister of North Syracuse; a son, Jerry (Kathy) Conroy of Maple City, Michigan; a sister, Mary DeMatteo of Bellevue Washington; thirteen grandchildren, two great- grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Calling Hours will be Wednesday 4 to 7p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd. Syracuse. Services will be Thursday 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery’s Mausoleum.
