Ida Leona (Strong) Myers
November 28, 1936 - January 20, 2018
Ida Leona Myers, 81, of Liverpool passed away peacefully at The Commons on St. Anthony in Auburn, NY on Saturday. Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Ida was born in Brooklyn and raised in Manhasset, NY before moving to Rockville Centre, where she lived her married life. Ida moved to Liverpool twenty years ago to be closer to her family. Ida graduated from Russell Sage College in 1958, “always a Purple Cow”, and went to work in the garment district of NYC as a buyer of women’s accessories. She retired from Lord & Taylor after 30 years of service. Ida was involved in Girl Scouts of Nassau County, and her local election boards, both in Rockville Centre and Liverpool.
She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Edgar Wayne, in 1997.
Survivors include her daughter, Nadine (Steve) Austin; her granddaughters, Amy and Kelsey Austin and her brother, Charles Strong of McKinney, TX.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 23rd from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 am at Pope John XXIII Church, 8290 Soule Road, Liverpool, NY. Burial will take place at Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Russell Sage College, Troy, NY 12180.
