Obituary for John P. Mackey

John P. Mackey
March 4, 1947 - April 8, 2018
John Patrick Mackey, 71, of Lyncourt died Sunday at Loretto of bone cancer.
Born in Syracuse, he graduated from St. John the Baptist Academy in 1965. John attended SUNY Cortland where he was News Editor of the Hilltop Press. John worked as a paralegal in three separate states including California, Florida and New York. A passionate advocate and researcher, John’s life was a celebration of other’s lives.
He was predeceased by his parents, Clement and Rosemary Mackey, and by his sister, Jill Mackey. Survivors include his friends, Kevin Foley and Carolyn Kenyon; his brother, Paul Mackey of Syracuse; his sister, Jo Ann Mathews of Columbus, OH; nieces, Carey, Jessica, Kathryn; nephews, Jacob and Jeremy; stepmother, Joan Mackey and aunt, Carol Judge of Fairmount. Services will be held Friday, Apr. 13th, at 4 pm at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse.
