Obituary for Alberta Marie Leo

Alberta M. Leo
February 8, 2019
Alberta M. Leo, 69, of Syracuse passed away peacefully on Friday at Crouse Hospital, surrounded by love. Alberta was a graduate of St. John the Baptist and Cazenovia College. She served in the Army and was Honorably Discharged. Alberta earned her L.P.N. and worked at the Dept. of Social Services for over 20 years. She was a member of Zonta and very active in helping the fight against cystic fibrosis. Alberta was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Lena Leo and her beloved aunt Pauline Garfallo. She is survived by many cousins and was a godmother to Sarah M. Weigelt. Although Alberta was an only child she had many friends that she considered her family and “Sister’s of the Heart” to name a few Roseann Saracence, Mary Lynch, Valerie Grecco, Rebecca Farruggio-Secreti and Marianne Brown. Alberta was not only stylish and artistic but also a very skilled seamstress. She modeled for the Guild Fashinota often been seen in ad’s for Chappell’s department store and local print work. She loved the beauty business field so much she obtained her esthetician license and became a Independent Beauty Control Consultant. Also starting her own business called Alberta’s Artistry often being commissioned for her paintings of flora and fauna along with paintings of adorable birds and animals. Alberta is a proud owner of a “Painted Lady” adding her own artistic touches over the years that lead to an honor in the paper highlighting her abilities. Alberta had an incredible love for all animals and was a strong advocate for animal rights that we can almost guarantee St. Francis met her on the rainbow bridge. Alberta also truly loved her retirement job at the Home Depot in Camillus, her co-workers and customers couldn’t help but love her in return. Alberta’s boundless spirit made a lasting impression on all who had a chance to meet her. In lieu of flowers – we believe Alberta would have loved if you took today to pay it forward with copious acts of kindness and generosity to an animal in need. Calling hours will be Tuesday 10a.m. to 12p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home, Inc. 1604 Grant Blvd. Syracuse with a service to follow. Burial with Military Honors will be in Assumption Cemetery.
