Richard D. Williams, 83, a lifelong resident of Cicero, fondly known by friends and family as “Dick” passed away on Sunday at his home. Dick was the son of the late Dr. Frank Williams and the former Eunice Hales of Cicero. He was a graduate of the Manlius Military School and of Simmons Institute of Funeral Service. As proprietor of Williams Funeral Home, he served his community as a funeral director for over 55 years. Active in the local community, Dick was a 60-year member of the Masonic Memorial Lodge #648, member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, member of Clay and Cicero Historical Societies, and served on the board of Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. He was an accomplished pianist and organist, who truly loved playing for his own enjoyment, as well as during services at his funeral home. His other interests included model train and shipbuilding along with gardening and raising rabbits, chickens, and ducks. He was predeceased by his former wife, Martha in 1982 and by his wife, Barbara in 2013. Survivors include his daughter, Nancy (Neil) Landers; step-children, William (Kim) McLaughlin, Michelle (Eric) Miller and Michael (Denise) McLaughlin; his eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; his sister, Joyce Lukacik and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, May 25th, at 10 am Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Clay, and a reception will follow. Burial will be private in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. There will not be any calling hours. Contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 4947 State Route 31, Clay, NY 13041.
