Donald V. Allen Sr. 67, loving father of three, passed away on Saturday in Queens, NY.
He was born, May 1, 1952, in Syracuse New York. Donnie was a graduate of Nottingham high school in Syracuse, New York and attended Farmingdale State College. He was in the Syracuse. Urban Sports Hall of Fame for top male 100 athletes in history. Donnie was a son, husband, father, proud grandfather and a great friend to many. He was a self-taught musician and songwriter, who knew and loved the Lord. Donnie was an award-winning athlete and sports fan. He was a chef who loved to cook for all. He had a gift for storytelling and he would tell you that he was a true hippie, free spirit, civil rights activist and music lover who captured the heart of all of those who met him, #IfYouKnewHimYouLovedHim. Donnie was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Helen Horton and his brother, Norman Terry Allen. He is survived by his daughter, Anna Allen of SC; his sons, Donald V Allen Jr. (Genie Allen) of South Carolina and D. Addison Spears (Tatiana Spears) of Syracuse; his Close companion, Terry Sapp. Five grandchildren; Jalen Allen, Taylor Dorsey, Janelle Allen, Tyler Dorsey (all of South Carolina) and Luna Spears of Syracuse; aunt Bernice Morgan of Syracuse; two nieces, Cameron Allen Hudson and Carmeya Allen; two nephews, Norman Allen Jr. and Craig Allen. Donnie also had others he considered siblings, close nieces, nephews, and several cousins. Calling hours will be on Monday, May 13, 2019 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m at the The Apolstolic Church 347 Cortland Ave. Syracuse, New York 13202. Services immediately following provided by Rev.
