John E. Becker

John E. Becker, 94, of Syracuse passed away on Wednesday. John was a proud Navy Veteran of World War II. He loved hunting and was a lifelong outdoorsman. He was an avid collector of firearms and was a certified gunsmith. Following many years as a mechanical engineer he retired from Tompkins Brothers. He was predeceased by his wife, of 55 years, Barbara, and by his sons, Alan, Douglas and Thomas. Survivors include his daughters, Cindy (Bob) Valenson and Sharon Calabria; his sons, Ron and John (Bev) Becker; his eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; his sister, Eleanor O’Donnell; his brothers, Michael and Edward (Carol) Becker and nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday, Apr. 29th, from 2 to 5 pm at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse. Services will be Monday 10 am at the funeral home, followed by burial with Military Honors in Assumption Cemetery.
