Obituary for Charles Christopher

Charles Christopher, Jr.
July 3, 1924 - November 17, 2018
Charles Christopher, Jr., 94, of Syracuse was called by the Good Lord on Saturday, to be reunited with his beloved wife, Jane, who predeceased him in 2009. He lived a good long life with many high points. Charles was born to the late Charles and Rosina Christopher on the Syracuse’s Northside, where he resided all of his life. During World War II, he served in the US Navy as a gunner’s mate, which was one of his proudest accomplishments.
Chuck worked in sales at Heckerman Iron Works and would eventually retire from Delhi Steel as sales manager at the age of 70.
Besides work and family, he was an avid sports fan, especially for Yankee and Syracuse Chief’s baseball and Giant’s football. He pitched in Syracuse’s Industrial League during the 1940’s. Survivors include his children, Tod (Lisa) and Mark (Teresa) Christopher and Gail (John) Higgins; his seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Calling hours will be Friday, Nov. 23rd, from 4 to 6 pm at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse. Service will be Saturday at 10:30 am at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 873 DeWitt St., Syracuse and a reception will follow. Contributions may be made to St. Stephen Lutheran Church.
